The menstrual cycle consists of two phases: follicular and the phase of the yellow body.

More or less has general indicators of the duration of the second phase-12-16 days. As you can see, the average number is really 14. But the countdown does not come from the first day of menstruation, but from the last day of the cycle, i.e. The day before the next menstruation.

How to calculate ovulation with an irregular cycle?

With an irregular cycle, you can calculate the date of ovulation in the same ways, but with some features:

  • By monthly, you will not be able to calculate the day of ovulation. After all, for calculation, you need to know the length of the cycle, but you cannot know this with an irregular cycle
  • According to the test for ovulation. The first problem of this method is that it is difficult to guess what day to make a test. The second problem is that the test can show a false positive result. This is explained by the fact that the cycle failure often speaks of hormonal problems in the body. And if hormones are not produced according to the norms, then the production of the hormone in large quantities than expected can provoke a false test reaction

  • By symptoms. This method also acts with an irregular cycle. Read more about the method you will find information below

  • Ultrasound. You can do an ultrasound, but with a cycle of 45 days you will have to visit a lot of ultrasound, tracking the dynamics of follicle growth. And this will pour you into a considerable penny

  • Measurement of basal temperature is a rather effective method with an irregular cycle. But you should first make a schedule of basal temperature in 3 months, noting accurate indicators every day. This will allow you to understand what temperature jump occurs when ovulation in your body. Read more about the basal temperature in ovulation and conception below and in the article Ovulation and pregnancy. When does conception occur after ovulation?

How to calculate the ovulation cycle?

To make an ovulation cycle, you should fix the indicators of the cycle duration for 6 months. Based on the results, do the following calculations:

  • From the longest cycle you take away 11
  • From the shortest cycle you take away 18
  • The period between the days received and the most likely for the onset of ovulation

Example.

The longest cycle was 36 days. Do simple calculations: 36-11 \u003d 25 days of the cycle.

The shortest cycle was 28 days. 28-18 \u003d 10 day of the menstrual cycle.

This means that the most likely period for the onset of ovulation and conception in a particular woman is the gap between the 10th and 26th day of the cycle. That is, for her there are 16 probable days.

Ovulation test

Detailed information on ovulation tests is set out in the article All about ovulation tests. How to do ovulation test correctly?

Basal temperature during ovulation

Indicators of basal temperature are one of the methods for determining the onset of ovulation. But one measurement will not be enough for you, since each woman will have its own indicators:

  • In order for the information to be reliable, you need to draw up a graph of basal temperature over the past three months
  • You need to measure the temperature every day at the same time (how to properly measure the basal temperature, read in the next section)
  • After 3 months, make a schedule from the first day of the cycle to the last for each month
  • During the first phase of the cycle, the basal temperature will be below 37 from
  • Then you will see a decrease by several degrees (you may not fix this short period)
  • Then a sharp jump will come
  • This will be a signal about the onset of ovulation
  • This temperature is increased and will stay until the next cycle occurs or will grow when pregnancy occurs

When the system can fail:

  • A woman takes hormonal drugs
  • A woman takes other potent medicines
  • The woman consumed alcohol
  • Disorders in the body: hormonal system failure, female problems
  • The rules for measuring the basal temperature are violated (read more about them in the next section of this article)
  • Climate change

Important: if in some month the temperature did not rise above 37 s-do not worry. This can happen 1-2 times a year. This is called an anovulatory cycle, i.e. Cycle without ovulation onset

Signals To see a doctor:

  • The anovulatory cycle was more than twice
  • The basal temperature rises only to the end of the cycle, and not in the alleged period of ovulation
  • The temperature either rises or drops throughout the cycle
  • If after the onset of menstruation the temperature did not return to the lower indicators, but continues to stay high

Important: all this information will be valid only if the basal temperature is correctly measured (read more details below)

Measurement of basal temperature to determine ovulation

In order for the measurement of temperature to make practical meaning, you must observe clearly and strictly Temperature measurement rules:

  • Measurements are rectally
  • To measure the temperature early in the morning in a lying position in bed. The best time is 7 in the morning
  • Use a mercury thermometer
  • 5 hours before measurement, you must sleep peacefully
  • Put the thermometer next to you so as not to make any gestures. You should not even shake a thermometer, prepare it in advance
  • Measurement take 5-10 minutes
  • Get out the thermometer, holding it for its tip. Otherwise you can influence the temperature
  • If you make a graph, then measurements should be carried out at one time plus minus a maximum of 30 minutes

Pain before ovulation

Pain before ovulation can be:

  • In the chest area
  • In the abdomen

Pain in the chest.

The pain in the chest before ovulation is provoked by a surge of hormones, since the body is prepared for conception. Pain does not occur often, more often discomfort occurs. This is not a reason to go to the doctor, unless they last for a long time.

Stomach ache.

The pains are concentrated in the ovary in which the cell matures and comes out. Every month you can feel pain from different sides. The pain should not be severe. If they are so strong that it is difficult for you to walk or you lose consciousness - see a doctor urgently. If the pains are notleless, tolerant and really continue only in the ovulation period, then there is nothing to worry about, because this is a normal physiological process.

Important: not every woman feels pain. But if you feel severe pain, or fever, headache, vomiting, dizziness, or if the pain lasts a long time, consult a doctor

Discharge before ovulation

The discharge before ovulation increases significantly. This is explained physiologically and should not scare you.

In addition to increasing the number, you can notice a change in the consistency of the discharge:

  • As a rule, discharge before ovulation has the appearance and consistency of raw egg protein
  • Color can be white, yellow, pink

Important: discharge cannot be one sign of ovulation. Compare this sign with other more accurate

How many days does ovulation last?

Ovulation lasts from different sources from 12 to 48 hours. That is, this is the period when the egg is viable and ready for fertilization.

If you set a goal to determine when ovulation occurs in your body, then you should choose the most accurate methods, or a combination of less accurate.

  1. I didn’t give me such ovulation calculations because the cycle was irregular. When I drank ovariamin so that the cycle was getting over and the ovaries would work as it should, then no calculations had to be carried out, in the second cycle it was easily pregnant after treatment. Now for 33 weeks it is going on, everything is fine, I feel amused, we are growing correctly.
