How to draw a flower iris with a pencil in stages for beginners?
Before starting drawing, consider your flower model well. Pay attention to the location of the petals. Three stretch upward, forming a peculiar tube around the core. These petals are called standards. The three lower ones, large enough, the bending petal fall down. These petals are called fouls. Each foul has a kind of beard made of thick villi at the base. For the lower treatments of irises, the presence of dark thin veins is also characteristic.
The leaves have a mucous form, flat and long. The stems are even, tall.
Determine for yourself what main geometric shapes (circle, oval, rectangle, triangle) you guess in the outlines of the flower.
Option 1
Let's try to draw a single flower.
Draw two ovals, placing them as shown in the photo below. Be sure to conduct a vertical axis of symmetry. The lines should be thin and light, it is easy to wash, if necessary. These lines will compose the boundaries of the future drawing.
In the upper oval, draw three standards. Start drawing by drawing a central petal.
Draw two elements creating the effect of beards.
Focusing on auxiliary lines, draw two side petals.
Draw the lower central petal, stem and narrow leaf. Wipe the auxiliary lines. Color the drawing at your discretion.
Option #2
If you have disassembled the previous drawing technique well, it means that it is quite mastered by the technique proposed below. Thanks to carefully drawn petals, Iris looks more natural.
How to draw a bouquet of irises with a pencil?
Using the tips and the technique below, described at the beginning of the article, you will easily draw several irises, making up a delicate bouquet of them.
Option 1
Think about the future composition. Using light lines, make a sketch of the picture. When working on drawing floral petals, do not forget that Iris is far from ideal symmetry and this is precisely his charm.
Be careful when working on the details of the picture. Do not forget about the beards and veins characteristic of iris. Do not neglect the application of shadows. The presence of shaded areas will add a pattern of depth and contrast, make it more lively and voluminous.
Option #2
Below is another, quite simple, a way to draw beautiful irises. Pay attention to the color scheme of the picture, because the irises is characterized by constant color movement.
How to draw a flower iris with watercolors in stages?
Irises and watercolor are created for each other. Professional artists argue that working with watercolors is quite difficult, however, like drawing irises. However, this article is designed for those who take the first steps in the visual arts, which means that the techniques that are offered to the reader do not require a high professional level.
IMPORTANT: To work with watercolor paints, use the appropriate paper. Ordinary album sheets are not suitable, because, paper for watercolors has a rough surface and holds the paint better.
Think your composition. If necessary, make a light sketch, indicating the heads of flowers, stems and leaves.
Determine the color scheme of the future drawing. Spots on the diagram below are ideal, from the point of view of professional artists, combinations of colors.
Watercolor loves water! And even special sheets of paper are prone to deformation during drawing. To minimize the consequences of deformation, the sheet should be fixed on the surface with masking tape (around the perimeter).
Moisten the watercolor with a spray gun well.
Remove excess moisture with a clean sponge. Look carefully at the surface: the sheet should not shine. If you notice the shine, get wet again with a sponge.
Take a drawing. Write easily, without effort. The paint will diverge softly, creating a blurry edge.
Having mastered the technique, proceed to the creation of a masterpiece.
Let the picture dry.
Draw the contours and details of the shine or special liner, if you see the need for this. Several clear lines in the figure below turned blurry watercolor blots into elegant flowers.
“Wet” technique does not limit the flight of imagination and allows you to create unique floral images.
The combination of wet and dry technology gives amazing, in its realism, images.
Iris flower: drawing with a pencil and watercolor
In order to minimize the consequences of deformation from moisture and subsequent drying, fix the sheet on the working surface with painting tape (around the perimeter).
Make a light sketch, noting for yourself the location, shape and size of the colors. With the help of a wax pencil, plunge the contours of the image. The lines should be thick and clear. Their purpose is not to give the paint to the paint and save the boundaries of each individual element.
Draw leaves and stems (wax pencil).
Slightly moisturize the middle of one of the petals with a brush and clean water. Color the petals working with two combined colors (see the scheme above). As a result, you will receive a beautiful and natural gradient inherent in the irises. The photo uses purple and blue paints.
Moisten not painted areas of petals with clean water. Color pale yellow or lemon watercolor. Closer to the base of the petal with a thin brush, drop the color of the ocher color. Wet watercolor will begin movement, creating an interesting transition. You can also shade yellow orange. Color the leaves. Let the picture dry. Draw thin veins on the leaves.
Carefully stoke the background. And draw thin veins on the petals.
