How to paint pink Easter eggs with beets?
Important: pre -welded eggs with a whole shell are used for staining. If the shell is damaged, you risk coloring and protein. How to cook eggs correctly read here.
Making natural dye from beets is simple:
- Pour 2 cups of clean drinking water into a comfortable pan and add two glasses of grated beets.
Important comments: beets are better to take medium sizes of dark varieties with saturated coloring closer to burgundy. Before grinding, the beets must be thoroughly washed, but not clean!
- Bring the mixture to a boil and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
Important: the longer the beets will cook, the darker the resulting dye will be. Colored eggs are always a few tones lighter than the solution in which they will be painted. Consider this when preparing the dye.
Important: digested beets lose its burgundy color!
- Give the mixture to cool and strain through gauze, folded 4 times.
Tip: If gauze in the house was not found, you can use a new nylon sock or golf.
- Add table vinegar (9%) to the resulting broth at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. Vinegar for 200 ml of fluid. In this case, vinegar is a color fixer.
- Put pre -welded eggs in a decoction. Leave the eggs in the decoction until the desired color is obtained. Coloring time ranges from 1 to 24 hours. The container with eggs is best placed in the refrigerator. With prolonged staining several times, carefully turn the eggs with a wooden spoon.
Important: in order for the eggs to be painted as evenly as possible, the shell of the eggs must be degreased with alcohol or vodka. In extreme cases, they can be washed with a soap or soda solution and thoroughly dry with a paper towel.
- As soon as the shell becomes the desired color, remove the eggs from the staining container and let them dry completely. Try not to touch wet eggs with your hands so as not to break the colored layer. Dried eggs will have a matte surface without shine.
Tip: so that the painted eggs have a glossy shine to be carefully wiped with a cotton sponge, moistened in a small amount of any vegetable oil without smell and taste.
If you are a happy owner of a juicer, you can refuse to make a beetroot decoction. Instead of a decoction, use freshly squeezed beetroot juice. Place cooked eggs in freshly squeezed beetroot juice and wait until the shell acquires the shade you need. The rules for laying eggs remain the same as for staining in a decoction.
