Despite the fact that both phraseological units have in their structure the general word “letter”, their semantics are somewhat different:
- filkina Diploma - a document that has no power;
- chinese letter is something incomprehensible.
Take into account the fact that in Soviet times the word “letter” changed the meaning under the influence of laudable and honorary letters, which were widely used as encouragement.
Until the 20th century, all written documents were called diplomas, including decrees, acts and letters (official or personal).
