In order for the plant to please you for as long as possible, you need to know not only the elementary rules of care, but also to understand the reproduction of plants. Some indoor flowers are well propagated by roots, some sheet plates. And from some, it is quite difficult to achieve offspring.
Dracaena, or in the common people of the palm, multiplies in simple ways, among which are the cutting of tops and stems, seeds, air layouts. However, the incorrectly selected method of propagation can harm the plant and not bring the desired result.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with this article by those who want to grow a dracao at home by all the rules.
How to properly propagate a dramsena marginate bordered at home step by step: photo
The marginate drama bordered was its name due to the special color of the leaves: long leaves of dark green color with a narrow red strip at the edges, which, as it were, borders the leaf. The “home palm” looks impressive and can reach 1.5 meters or higher in height. In leaving is unpretentious: loves plentiful watering, does not like moisture, dry air and small pots. It takes root in offices, apartments, houses with good multiple lighting and humidity above 65%. He loves frequent spraying and baths.
Now let's talk directly about the reproduction of the plant. The bordered marginate dracene is perfectly propagated by cuttings (apical and stem). Step -by -step description of the propagation of the dracaena:
- Cut the top of the plant with a sharp knife, or a piece of the stem.
- Within one or two days, dry the cut, wrapping the stalk in a paper towel, or gauze. Then process a product that stimulates root formation.
- Put in purified and defended water for a month. During this time, the plant will give roots and can be transplanted into the ground.
- You can skip the third point and immediately plant the stalk in the prepared soil, having previously processed the cut with the composition that stimulates root formation.
This simple algorithm will help you in the propagation of the marginate dracaena.
You can observe a clear demonstration of breeding a home palm. Sometimes it is also recommended to wrap the cuttings with a plastic bag until completely rooted, leaving the space for the growth of leaves.

Another indoor beauty is Derem Draca. The plant has wide, and long (up to 50 cm) green leaves with white and yellow stripes. It blooms red flowers, but flowering in the conditions of the room occurs extremely rarely. Perhaps this is a plus, because these flowers smell not very pleasant. It grows not as a tall tree as the dracaena of marginate, nevertheless it looks no less presentable from this.
Propagation occurs in several ways:
- air layering
- apical cuttings
- stem cuttings
We will tell in more detail about the method of propagation of air layouts further in the article. Unfortunately, the plant does not multiply with separate leaves. This is the lot of most succulents and violets. In order for the plant to give roots, it needs to have at least 5 cm of the stem, and ideally 10-15. Then the plant will definitely take root.
Important! If you purchased a dramsen of any kind in the store, be sure to first transfer it to a more spacious pot. So the plant will grow in height and you can quickly wait for the age when the flower can be propagated by cuttings.
How to properly propagate a fragrant dracao at home step by step: photo
If Deremskaya Dracene is not the most pleasant smell during flowering, then fans of floral aromas will delight with the smell of fragrant dracaena flowers. Small flowers open in the evening and bloom until morning, filling everything around them with a dizzying aroma.
Warning! Since the flower refers to strongly flinged, it is not recommended to place it in the bedrooms. Also, people with allergies to flowering plants should be extremely careful with the fragrant draca.
This type of dracen is propagated in the same way as the rest. At the site of the cut of the cuttings for several months, several subsidiaries usually grow. Thus, with regular pruning, you can get a plant with developed foliage.
In a small dracaena, a fragrant trunk does not disappear, and for some time it remains completely covered with leaves. Only a few years later can you notice a kind of bark at those places where leaflets used to grow.
In a couple of decades, the plant can grow to impressive sizes.
How to properly propagate the Sandra's dracaea at home step by step: photo
Unlike the previous varieties of Drazen, Dracaine Sunder is more like a bamboo than a palm tree. This plant propagates a little differently, although some methods can be applied to it.
Dracaine Sander is also called bamboo of happiness. It looks as follows: a long bamboo stem with bright green leaves of medium size at the top.
The flower is used as a decoration of the premises. Experienced gardeners make whole expositions from this plant, “twisting” the plant as they need. This does not harm the stem, because the bamboo is quite plastic and durable. Such a plant will certainly attract the attention of guests.
Ways to propagate the Sandara dracaena:
- apical cuttings (shoots)
- dividing the stem
- rooting in several places of the stem
For rooting with tops, cuttings (dividing the stem), special knowledge is not necessary:
- Cut the escape or part of the stem.
- Process the upper part with molten warm wax from the candle.
- Put the lower part in the water and wait 2-4 weeks. The plant will give roots.
- Wait until the root system develops well enough and transplant into a pot with the ground.
To propagate the plant by rooting in two places, the following algorithm must be performed:
- Cut off the part of the bamboo stem on top and bottom with a sharp knife so that you get a wand about 10 cm long (without leaves).
- Process half a cut on each side with warm wax.
- Place the unprocessed wax in a horizontal position in a plate with clean water. There should be no more than 1-2 cm. Exactly so much that the stem is covered only half.
- Wait for the appearance of roots and good shoots and root a plant.
Important! In the water for the Sander dracaena, you need to add fertilizer for bamboo growth. Without this, the risk of the death of the flower is great.
We recommend that you watch a very interesting video on how to make a whole composition from Sander's dracen.

How to properly propagate the dramso Lemon Lime at home step by step: photo
A bright and spectacular plant is a dracaena of the Lemon (lemon) lime variety. On windowsill with multiple light, kitchen tables and transparent coffee tables, it looks especially appropriate.
Lemon Lime is initially a small bush with a large number of bright green leaves with thick yellow and white stripes. After a few years, the plant usually stretches strongly, exposes the stem. At this stage, you might think about how to propagate this type of dracaena.
Methods of propagation of dracaena Lemon Lime:
- cherling
- tops
There are no features in this case, just do as described in the article. For cuttings, it is recommended to take a stalk of about 20-30 cm in size. So the plant will definitely take root in a new place.
Tips for the propagation of the dracaena variety Lemon Lime:
- use growth stimulants
- during rooting, the plant is placed in a container in water and large sand at the bottom (at least 4-5 cm)
- after rooting, placed in the ground (a mixture of sand and peat 1: 1)
- it is large cuttings that give roots, so do not be afraid to cut the plant

The propagation of the dracaena with the tops, as we found out, is one of the simplest ways to propagate the dracaena in principle. The correctly cut the top gives the roots quickly enough and well after that roots in the ground. If the stem stalk can nevertheless be bent in a consequence and not give a process, then the apical stalk is almost always taking root.
The conditions are necessary to root the top:
- even cut with a sharp knife
- pure water
- the presence of growth stimulant in water depending on the type of flower
- scattered light
- air humidity 65%
Rooting algorithm:
- Cut the top with a stem with a length of 10 cm.
- Process the cut of the rooted part by the root -forming composition.
- Put the plant in water for several weeks. Periodically changing it.
- Wait for the appearance of the roots and root in the ground.
- Then, if necessary, transplant into a permanent pot.

Dragon Dragon by seeds at home: photo
It is quite possible to grow a dracao from seeds. But you may face some difficulties, for example:
- Dragons seeds rarely appear in stores, most likely you will have to order them.
- Dragons seeds sprout unevenly.
- Groding can take up to six months. Skewers are very slowly gaining strength.
- Not all seeds will most likely germinate.
Step -by -step cultivation of dracaena seeds:
- Rinse the seeds if you took them not in the store, but from an adult plant. If you have purchased seeds, then immediately go to the second stage.
- Pour a little water into a flat plate, put the seeds there and cover with a fabric from natural materials on top. Remove the plate in a warm dark place. You can put it near the battery, just do not forget to add water.
- Plant the sprouted seeds one in plastic cups with drainage and a substrate for draca to a depth of 1 cm. Sprinkle with earth and spray from the spray gun with water.
- Cover with a film or a transparent lid and leave to germinate in a warm place (not on the battery). Protect the “greenhouse” regularly and spray with filtered water.
- When the sprouts reach a height of several centimeters, remove the “greenhouse” and leave the plants in a warm light place to gain strength.

One of the most reliable methods of propagation is propagation using special air layouts. Plants rooted in this way take root in almost 100% of cases. However, this method is recommended only to experienced gardeners.
Propagation with layering (air) in stages:
- First you need to soak sphagnum (moss, sold in flower stores) for a couple of hours.
- Select the place where there will be a cut. Under the leaf knife, make a sharp incision with a sharp knife and insert a wand or match vertically there so that the place does not overgrow. The incision should be no more than 4 cm long. The depth is about 0.5 cm.
- The incision must be wetted with a cotton pad treated with growth hormone.
- Now take the moss and wrap the barrel in the place of the incision.
- And moss, in turn, wrap it in a package or film.
- Crush access to fresh air, create a greenhouse by wrapping the barrel above and below the moss with a thread.
- Periodically check the moss, it should be wet. Do not forget to spray it.
- After a couple of months, cut the process that forms next to the cut and root it.
- Treat the cut on an adult plant with wax.

This method has been described more than once in the article, but we will focus on it for the last time.
- We cut the stalk about 10 cm long. Most often, the cuttings can be taken after cutting the dracaena, or after removing the tops.
- We process the upper cut with wax. Lower - hormone growth for roots.
- Put in a container of water. If this is Sander's dracaena, then with water and sand.
- We wait for the appearance of good roots (about a month) and root in the ground.
- After a few weeks, when the roots are stronger, you can transplant into a permanent pot.
Dracne room flower - transplanting, watering, fertilizer and care after reproduction
Dracaena is quite unpretentious. It does not require constant attention, expressed in constant top dressing or frequent transfers. You need to transplant the plant once a year if you have a young one. An adult and old plant is transplanted as roots grow every 2-3 years. Watering is moderate. Dragons really do not like raw soil and moisture stagnation in the pallet. The soil should be wet. At the same time, some species of drachenes love water and can grow in it. For example, Dracaine Sander.
Fertilizes special fertilizer for drams, or for bamboo. It depends on what kind of plant you have chosen. In any case, the fertilizer should contain the following substances:
- nitrogen
- copper
- potassium
- calcium
- magnesium
- sulfur
- phosphorus
- bor
The list can be supplemented with other useful elements.
The best option is the schedule of fertilizer:
- in the spring-summer period once a month
- in the autumn-winter period 1 time per season
After propagation, the care is standard.
