How to make a decorative stone from gypsum: Instruction

This is how a decorative gypsum is made

Before you start making a decorative stone from gypsum, you need to prepare the material.

For the manufacture of stone you need:

  • Gypsum in powder, brands G-16, you can G-6
  • Water
  • Dyes - for multi -colored stone
  • Citric acid (in the event that you add dyes)
  • Thin -grained sand
  • Forms for pouring gypsum solution
  • Plastic bucket for kneading the solution
  • Electric drill (nozzle "mixer") or spatula for kneading the solution
  • The glass is corrugated

We make a decorative stone from gypsum:

  1. First, we will prepare the forms where we will fill the solution. You can buy silicone forms, or make metal, plastic or wooden yourself.
  2. We prepare all the necessary materials.
  3. On a perfectly flat surface we lay out the shape.
  4. We calculate how much gypsum is needed (fall asleep into the form of gypsum in powder, weigh it, and take it out of this amount of 30%) so that the solution fits into the forms, and it does not remain, because it freezes quickly-15-20 minutes, and if you leave it the next time, nothing It will not work, it will freeze right in the bucket.
  5. Prepare the forms and process them dripida-rush mixture. We do it like this: we take 3 parts of wax and 7 parts of the turpentine, mix them and melt them in a water bath. When the wax melts, lubricate the shape of the shape inside, so that it is easier to get ready -made products from gypsum from cells.
  6. For processing forms, you can use another mixture option: a solution of household or liquid soap. We rub laundry soap (0.5 pieces), stir in warm water (1 l) until the soap dissolves. We take 2 tbsp. l. for 1 liter of water. Pour the soap solution into a spray gun, and spray on the molds before pouring gypsum solution.
  7. For the manufacture of decorative stone you need approximately equal amount of dry and liquid components. Pour water into a bucket, mix the gypsum for strength with fine -grained sifted sand (up to 10% of all gypsum), but it is possible without sand, pour out in small portions and interfere. The solution should be thick, fluid, homogeneous, without lumps. The liquid solution will harden for a long time, and the finished product from it will turn out to be not durable. It must be mixed quickly, otherwise the solution will begin to harden in a bucket.
  8. If we want to get multi -colored decorative stones, then we add 1 of the colors of iron oxide pigment (they are black, brown, yellow, red and orange) and citric acid (0.3% of the amount of dry components), and then add gypsum and mix.
  9. Pour the finished solution into forms, first fill the bottom of all forms, and then add the solution on top, using a spatula we level it and shaking the shape, so that the solution is better distributed.
  10. After a few minutes, again we go the solution with a spatula on top.
  11. You can cover the forms with future stones with glass, it is better to take corrugated, after about half an hour the gypsum solution freezes, remove the glass, release stones from the molds and put it to dry on the shelves.

Note. To achieve a homogeneous color of decorative stones, dyes and citric acid before adding to the water, we pre -dissolve in warm water.
