The main and most visual differences are visible during flowering: “fluffy”, with many petals of a rose and a modest five rosehip petals. 1. Initially, the red shoots of the roses turn green and village, later, unlike the shoots of rosehips, whose stems are thinner and green from the moment of their formation.
  2. On a sprig of roses, as a rule, there are three or five leaflets, the rosehip has seven, and the upper sheet is also unpaired. Why "usually"? Because, as from any rule, there are exceptions: there are varieties of curly roses, which also have seven sheets.
  3. The leaves are also different in color: in the rose they are solid, smooth and shiny, dark green. Their ends are a little rounded. Small, carved, light, with a matte rough coating and pointing at the tip - at rosehips. Their edges are not entirely even, spikes may be present.

The flowers of both plants are bisexual, have a double perianth. The cup has a cups that have grown together. Depending on what the variety of plants, the flowers are located inflorescences or separately.

As already mentioned, the rosehip flower has five petals, although decorative cultivated varieties can be terry (for example, the “wrinkled” variety has about 180 petals). The rose has a lot of petals in the flower and the core, which is not visible during flowering. The middle of the rosehip is always visible.

As already mentioned, having finished flowering, the rosehips form the formation of fruits with seeds inside, while roses are falling out of the petals without any ovaries of fruits. The color of rosehip petals is mainly pink (occasionally white). Roses bloom in rich colors.

What to do so that the rose does not turn into rose hips?

Roses can have their own root system, and can be vaccinated with a shoot to the basal part of rosehips (by the way, in the latter case, the plant is more enduring). If you notice that new shoots went from the root of your rose, carefully examine them.

  • The green color of the new branches should already warn you that it is growing rosehip.
  • If they do not remove them, they will “return” the status of rosehips to your bush.
  • To avoid this, carefully dig the soil near the bush and carefully cut all the shoots at the root that are located below the place where the vaccine is made.
  • Those above, leave - roses will bloom on them. You also need to delete any shoots that appear near the bush itself, otherwise they will prevent your new rose, weakening it. Watch the plant constantly and, if necessary, continue to remove unnecessary shoots.
  • If the blanket has not taken root, the rosehip will remain rosehip. In the event that there are still some processes of the schedule, at the end of summer you need to cut all the branches of the rosehip, leaving annuals. Cut the escape and get a pink kidney to it. Two weeks in two weeks, it will give a decorative branch next year.
  • Do not loosen the soil at the bush intensively so as not to activate rosehip kidneys.

Well, now you all know about roses and rosehips and easily distinguish one from the other.
